Step-by-Step Perfect Shot (Basketball Form Shooting)

✅ Step-by-Step Perfect Shot (Basketball Form Shooting)

Step 1 — Stance (Your Base)

Everything starts from your feet.

  • Feet shoulder-width apart

  • Shooting foot slightly forward

  • Knees bent

  • Stay balanced on the balls of your feet

Think: “Ready to jump anytime.”

Step 2 — Grip the Ball Correctly

Control comes from your fingers, not your palm.

  • Ball rests on fingertips

  • Small air gap between palm and ball

  • Shooting hand under/behind the ball

  • Guide hand on the side only

Important: Guide hand does NOT push.

Step 3 — Elbow Position

This keeps the shot straight.

  • Elbow directly under the ball

  • Forearm vertical

  • Make an “L” shape (90°)

If your elbow goes out → the shot goes sideways.

Step 4 — Eyes on Target

Before you shoot:

  • Pick a small target (front rim or back of the rim)

  • Lock your eyes there

  • Don’t look at the ball

Aim small → miss small.

Step 5 — Load (Power Position)

Prepare your body.

  • Bend knees

  • Keep chest up

  • Bring ball to shooting pocket (around chest/face level)

Power comes from legs first, arms second.

Step 6 — Shoot Motion (One Smooth Flow)

Everything should be ONE motion.

  1. Extend legs

  2. Lift ball up

  3. Jump straight

  4. Extend shooting arm

  5. Flick wrist

No stopping or double motion.

Smooth = accurate.

Step 7 — Follow Through (Most Important Part)

This controls the arc and spin.

  • Snap wrist

  • Fingers down

  • Hold pose

  • Arm fully extended

Like you’re reaching into a cookie jar 🍪

Hold it for 1–2 seconds.

Step 8 — Arc and Landing

  • Ball should travel in a high arc (rainbow shape)

  • Land in same spot you jumped from

If you drift → you lose accuracy.

🔥 Quick Shooting Formula (Easy to Remember)

Players remember this:

B.E.E.F.

  • Balance

  • Eyes

  • Elbow

  • Follow-through

If one is wrong → shot misses.

🏀 Daily 10-Minute Practice (Fast Improvement)

Try this:

  • 50 close shots (form only, no jump)

  • 50 mid-range

  • 25 free throws
